Vanguard pony sprites

A WIP-ish picture of two pony sprites (Rainbow Dash and Lightning Dust) who may be the player 1 and 2 characters for a horizontal shmup project I have been working on with my best friend since mid-late January...it is currently called Rainbow Blasters, is made in Game Maker and currently does not use these sprites, it merely uses the Desktop Ponies sprite of Rainbow Dash, and as it currently stands it is nothing but senseless randomness and in-jokes. I may eventually rename the game to Pegastrike (though then again I might keep the original name,) recode it in Javascript and Unity, and turn it into a much more epic and serious game.

The game would be set in an alternate reality where ponies, or at least pegasus ponies, are used by some militaries as an alternative to fighter aircraft and UAV combat drones. The protagonist faction, called the Vanguard, is mostly composed of humanoids, although they employ our two equine heroines, giving them cool armor and guns, and treating them nicely. The antagonist faction, called Nexus, is basically an entire organization of sadistic, social Darwinist nihilists who think ponies are too weak to be allowed to live. So needless to say, they have got to go. And so it's up to Rainbow and Lightning to save the day. This is all a working plot and is subject to change.

These will eventually be animated, and both mares will also get two awesome guns each. I plan on Rainbow specializing in conventional projectile weapons and getting two guns of that sort: vulcan and Gauss, while having Lightning (as her name may suggest) specializing in energy weapons and getting two other guns accordingly: pulse and laser. Next up, I plan on animating these and designing their guns. Stay tuned...
